Preamble of the Indian Constitution . The preamble to the Constitution of India is called the key to the Constitution. The preamble of the Constitution defines the purpose and principles of the Constitution. The preamble is also called the heart of Indian constitution because it’s an introductory statement of the entire Constitution.
Supreme Court announced in Keshwananda Bharti V. State of Kerala case that The preamble is the part of Indian constitution and Indian legislature can amend it.
- The 42nd amendment in 1976 amended the Preamble and added Sovereign, Socialist secular democratic republic & Integrity of the nation.
