Election Process of ICC
The ICC board of directors each nominate one member for the post of president. Any member that gets more than one vote is eligible to run for the president. The resulting election then decides who becomes the president. In Manohar’s case, all directors on the board nominated him. Therefore, there was no subsequent poll required.
The board of directors has one representative from each of the twelve full member countries. There are also three associate member representatives from Malaysia, Namibia and Singapore. All directors had signalled their support for Manohar during the ICC meeting in Kolkata last year.
