There were 71 nations and 4426 athleltes who participated in 2018 Commonwealth Games. The Indian contingent returned with a total of 66 medals at the 21st Commonwealth Games to finish third overall.This includes a total of 26 golds, 20 silver and 20 bronze. India bagged 16 medals in “shooting”, 12 in “wrestling” and 9 in “weightlifting“.The table tennis contingent bagged 8 gold. This includes the team gold that the women bagged.

Highlights of Commonwealth Games:
Deepak Lather is the youngest Indian weightlifter ever to win a gold medal at the CWG. He bagged the gold in the 69 kg men’s competition.
The track and field athlete Neeraj Chopra bagged the first ever gold in javelin throw at the CWG for the Indian contingent.
Saina Nehwal became the first Indian to win two singles golds at the CWG after defeating PV Sindhu.
The Indian contingent returned with a total of 66 medals at the 21st Commonwealth Games.
